In Home Engagement Session

This In Home Engagement session was so special! Hannah and Zach remodeled their home from start to finish so it was only fitting that we started their session there! Pizza and Dr Pepper…. need I say more! After their house we headed to Harlinsdale Farm to capture the fall colors. I love to ask my couple questions so they can “write” their engagement blog post so here is their answers.

How did you two meet?

Hannah: I am a physical therapist and Zach was a patient at our clinic, that is how we initially met. It wasn’t until his back was healed and he was back up and running that he sent me an email asking to take me to dinner. He says I took my sweet time in replying, but really it was just 3 days. He just happened to send the email on a weekend I didn’t have any work to catch up on!

When did you know each other was “the one”?

Hannah: I don’t know if there was one particular moment where I thought he was the one. I think it was just a multitude of moments early on where I knew I wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. From early on, he always made me a priority and we just had sooo much fun being together, even if we did the smallest things.

Zach loves building things and he loves teaching people (especially me) HOW to build things or fix things. We have been remodeling a house for a couple years now that will eventually be our home together, and it was during this process that I realized just how good of a team and partnership we make. We balance and compliment each other in a way that I didn’t know was possible. We have become best friends and I just can’t imagine a life without him!

Zach: She has always been through my side through thick and thin. I went to a baseball game. I don’t particularly like baseball, but i liked spending time with her. I googled all the players on her favorite team to make sure to have something to talk about on our trip. I now own more cardinals baseball stuff than I do my hometown Tigers. When I bought my house, it was a complete wreck. Despite her not seeing the vision she has helped every step of the way to make it a home. We both care so much for the other that we get genuine joy from participating in the thing the other loves.

Who did he propose? Give me all the details!

Zach proposed on August 13th at the place where we had our first date. That was Mafioza’s in 12 South. He proposed in the parking lot, where my sister was hiding to take pictures. This really wasn’t just any parking lot, but its where we shared our first kiss and many many many hours of conversation over the last three years. After the surprise and a few more pictures, we went inside for pizza. Once we got inside I was shocked to see my whole family, Zach’s parents and aunt from Michigan, my very best friend all the way from Colorado and several other of our friends here. I was shocked to see everyone but also felt so loved and surrounded by all of our very favorite people.

After dinner, I thought we were going back to my parents house to catch up with Zach’s parents and play games, but on the way to the house we made a detour by Zach’s house, where all of those same friends and family were gathered in a fully decorated house for an engagement party! We popped champagne and had cake and cookies and opened our first gifts. It truly was the greatest night!

What are you most looking forward to for your wedding day?

Hannah: I am honestly most looking forward to becoming this man’s wife…finally! We have decided not to do a first look, so I think I am really looking forward to walking down the aisle and seeing him for the first time. I know that when i finally get to hug him and hold his hand there will be an instant moment of calm and peace. I am also looking forward to having all of our favorite people in one place. Zach: Im looking forward to finally having Hannah truly be mine. The wedding is going to be the start of a long wonderful life for us. Im very excited to spend the night with all of our people and with my wife! I am also looking forward to the pizza.

Any other fun stories or info about you two!

We are mom and dad to two puppies, Yadi and Waino, who are named after Hannah’s favorite baseball players for the St. Louis Cardinals. They are just over a year old and keep us on our toes! We love our little (or big) knuckleheads!
